Vaccination Disclaimer: All dogs I work with must be up to date with rabies and be licensed in the town. Other vaccines, such as distemper, bordetella and leptospirosis, are not required, but are at the discretion of the dog owner if they want their dog protected from such viruses. Dog owners are responsible to notify me well in advance if their dog is exhibiting sick symptoms so I can readily prepare not to expose my dog or other dogs to potential risks.
My recommendations are that all my dogs be on heartworm preventative as we encounter mosquitos on the trail; each have a flea/tick preventative of some kind, whether topical, collar, or holistic spray for ticks; and each get bi-annual fecal tests to protect against giardia and other harmful parasites.
