Alexandra hosts one big pack hike and multiple small-group hikes in Middlesex, Worcester, and Montpelier, Monday through Thursday each week. Your dog could join a current group, or she may create a new group specifically for them. Groups range from 3-10 dogs, including her own dogs Woody and Riley. Pack walk clients make a weekly commitment, from one to four times per week; this allows for deeper socialization and pack bonding.
The pack walk is $50 for one dog for 60 minutes, not including travel time to pick up and drop off your dog or dogs in that group. Total time may range from 1.5-3 hours; or longer for dogs with a day pass, who may join multiple walks a day (pack walks, private walks, and socialization walks). For multiple dog households, there is an additional $15 charge per dog.
All dogs ride in her Subaru in soft-sided crates and a secure backseat, listening to her sing happy tunes to them in route to client homes and trailheads. The pack walks are designed to exercise, socialize, train, and empower your dog with confidence! They are joyful and focused on developing a harmonious pack by positively reinforcing social skills and cooperative hiking and play. The walk is an experience where she guides the dogs on a variety of familiar trails. Her big pack walk is hosted on private land where she has been granted privilege to use during certain daytime hours.
She utilizes various strategies to ensure dogs don’t run into wildlife or dangerous terrain when off-leash, including training a majority of her dogs on the remote e-collar. All her pack dogs wear Garmin GPS Satellite collars to ensure the safest experience!
Dogs with a day pass are seasoned in the pack, highly sociable, reliable on recall, and easily integrated. They provide good socialization to other dogs who require a little more work and serve to demonstrate certain skills, like recall and staying on trail. The dogs teach each other, and they all get something out of it!
She doesn’t expect all new clients to have reliable recall or even good social skills. It takes time for dogs to develop these skills, and she’s willing to work with them in private or smaller-group socialization sessions to achieve this. For Alexandra, each dog is a longterm investment, in which she promotes and nourishes growth, maturity, and balance.
