Individual training sessions and socialization walks are $90 for 60 minutes and designed to rehabilitate dogs who are fearful, reactive, excitable, or intense around other dogs and who need extra help in making friends.

Exposure to a well-balanced non-reactive dog in short sessions over an extended period of time reprograms a reactive dog’s way of thinking about other dogs. Alexandra uses her dog Riley for the initial evaluation and beginning sessions until your dog has learned the basics and accepted Riley as a trusted friend. Riley and Alexandra then further the work by continuing to provide positive exposure with other well-socialized dogs in a controlled environment.

Owners will gain skills and confidence to manage reactive behavior and encourage good socialization with their dog and others, practicing both on and off-leash interactions.

This training is progressive in nature. The more sessions, the more socialized your dog will become. The possibilities are endless, from gaining one dog friend to hiking with a pack.

The more socialized your dog is with others, the less stress you and your dog will experience and the more freedom and confidence you both will have to be out in public. More importantly than your dog’s behavior in public will be the increase in contentment you see at home.

Each session will involve learning about dog psychology, body language, energy and communication, and practicing being a calm assertive leader and bringing your dog to a calm submissive state (or neutral) to allow for receptivity of the work and deep-seated transformation.

As we progress with socializing your dog, you'll pick up his cues more and more quickly, no matter how subtle they may be. You will learn to tune into your dog better and better. The effort and investment you make to help your dog will pay off tenfold, as it will also serve to deepen your relationship and bond.

In addition to Socialization Training, Alexandra offers other training, depending on your dogs needs. This may include basic obedience, anxiety management, scent work, and remote e-collar recall training.

Socialization is key for a dog to feel comfortable in the world, expressing contentment, balance, and ease in social interactions. Dogs can become stressed, overstimulated, or aggressive when isolated from other dogs.
